The college production of the musical inspired by William Shakespear's ''Romeo and Juliet'' featured a large trash bin on stage. Alden decided to write a play or musical that featured a trash bin.

While the plot is incomplete, it is a tragic-comedy that features characters who live on the street on the west end of a city. A homeless group of four live together, nominally led by Pope Higgins. Their street family is threatened by a fifth person who represents [[Greyface]]. The play deals with three primary causes of homelessness: financial, mental, and drug problems.
